I have vivid (and expensive) memories of being refused check-in (London to San Fran on my way back to NZ) because my passport just about had 3 months left before it expired. Despite my pleading that I had contacted the relevant embassies and they had said "absolutely no problem mate," I couldn't persuade the very nice woman at BA to let me board a plane, or even check in.

Surely the staff at Qantas and Air NZ can be paid by our govt (yes, another job or 10 or 50 for a beleaguered airline worker) to check Covid test status at check-in? How can it be that hard?

So after waiting and waiting, two days ago, against the instruction on their website not to, I emailed my GP's office saying very politely that I hadn't heard anything and I am in Group 3 and have this condition etc and could they tell me who to contact in case I've been missed. So today I got the invitation and booked for next week so first jab before end July and the GP probably had something to do with it because straight after I got an email from the office saying you should have got the invitation just now.... and it's at a nearby pharmacy and the second one is also already booked. Feeling a bit of relief really. But sorry for my Aussi friends... the TT bubble is likely to be popped tomorrow... oh and navel oranges cost me $3.49 a kg today... oh but aren't they delish? I share mine with visiting waxes.

My wife and I are group 3 - we have vaccine bookings for mid August and early September. I get the feeling that some reporters and opinion writers resent being left out of things, like the covid response, and their answer is to try and insert themselves into the process.

Group three - first jab scheduled for Sunday morning. As I understand it I can then book the second one while I am there or (if the queue is too long) be given a phone number to call at my leisure. My partner took the second option and got straight through. It seems the RNZ News team does not understand the difference between invited and scheduled.

Re the test checks - I would have thought the best time to show the required test results is when checking-in. All the airline staff need to say, if it does not make the grade, is - you will not be permitted to enter New Zealand when you arrive so, when would you like to re-book?

Damn but some of us men can be such callous brutes almost all of the time.

I was working outside the other day and a Bob Dylan song came up as my phone played music on random that made think 'David Slack & the MTAFs would probably like this one.' It's the title track from a 2014 album "Lost On The River: The New Basement Tapes" featuring covers of some "lost" Dylan songs written in 1967. I bought the CD for 98 cents at The Warehouse 2019.

Feels like a small counterpoint to some of those dickheads of late.

I'm at the far end of the queue. Until then, it's Buccaline burner for me. God, that odious Aussie Olympic twat.

We flew to Adelaide 14th. They turned off E-passports and every single person on plane had to go to immigration desk like old days as they had pre-entry requirements and checked all done plus covid tracer app installed. Seems like very easy fix. One cool thing over here is that loads of places will not serve you without showing check in tick ✔️ On tracer app. Even at checkout they ask - have you checked in. Everyone has been amazingly polite about it but this might just be “SA state unique” great State response to covid from day 1. We are meant to be flying directly back this Sunday (announcement tomorrow pending) but booked for test tomorrow, has to be within 72hours of travel and at own expense of course - cost of travel. Will let you know how it goes as we flow through (I am hoping if bubble is shut off we are given 48-72hrs grace and will squeeze through) 😳🤞🏼

Group 3 - vax 1 in June, vax 2 3 weeks later. The joys of small town living 👍

Group 3 here, and under Waikato DHB so we were expecting delays, however our text invitations arrived this morning and the booking process worked extremely well. We now each have both appointments booked. A bit of a thrill.
