"God save us from the cultural tyranny of the Taxpayers Union. Their position on music, as best I can make it out is: the combined work of Dire Straits, Coldplay and Adele should be music be enough for anybody. "
I've been listening to to Tom Waits all afternoon, I wonder if they'd like him. Thought I'd share this one with you, one of my all time favs. Take Me Home https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2sglrbx6rVo
Thanks to social media there definitely is no name suppression in New Zealand. A little bit of searching starts to reveal an unappealing picture of a family of entitled ones. A position may demand respect but their actions can easily undermine that respect and certainly have done so in this case.
Yay Donna! Clear-eyed, straight shooter she is. I still remember her firing a coiled streamer straight into the person's head seated one row ahead at a Buddy Holly musical. It had meant to reach the stage 💥
I followed the link that I thought was taking me to Linda Burgess' Sunday essay, but ended up at Simon Sweetman's blog about his Favourite Tarantino movies. Not that that was a bad thing. His rankings were pretty close to mine, but I like Inglourious Basterds a lot more than he does.
Was the link off-target or did I misread where it would take me?
I'm.confused. Where does David say the Taxpayers Union accepted taxpayer funding from Creative NZ? It was Chris Beernink who received taxpayer funding for his NZ School of Music Master’s thesis. More info here: https://t.co/JUZXm17zGw
Did you see this one David?

oh this is GOOD
Even a psycho can seem nice with changes. But it seems some parliamentarians just can’t.
I love it!

Hi David

Damn! Sorry about that! I've corrected it online now. Thanks for alerting me, Evan. Here's the link https://thespinoff.co.nz/the-sunday-essay/12-09-2021/the-sunday-essay-in-praise-of-breakfast/
Oh, the irony of the Taxpayers Union in accepting taxpayer funding from Creative NZ to produce banal, musically unintelligible crap like this!
