'My' Eagles song is 'Take it Easy' closely followed by 'Peaceful Easy Feeling'. I detect a theme. Didnt watch the debate, and now having read reviews, I have no desire to. Neither party seems to be doing anything groundbreaking. But I prefer the safety of Labour. We need to move away from trying to get back to "how things used to be". Those days are gone. Get with the programme. Invest in tech. Invest in solar. Invest in things that can allow people to live better, healthier, cheaper lives. Don't invest in anything that destroys the landscape. I could go on, but I'm sure your column today will outline the solution more eloquently.
The hook I'm caught on is the e-bike. I live in the city of Asheville, N.C. Jack here, I'm all in, 70 years living and I am only learning how to hit the "ball with the sweet part of the bat". Still open and body is willing to adventure. Reading is the key in the learning; kind of separating the wheat from the chaff. Newbie to Substack. Keep writing...Peace and ...out.
Instead of spending $10 billion on a harbour tunnel, you could give every household in Auckland a top-of-the-range ebike, build a double skypath plus your underwater travelator and provide ebike parking/charging stations all over the city with change to spare.
Reading this tonight produces an odd sensation of melancholy. maybe it's my realisation that, probably, NZ will not be able to see itself beyond real estate, tourism and cars and benefit bashing.
"Witchy Woman" or "Lyin Eyes" perhaps? Love being reassured by Jacinda that the reason she will never pursue a CGT ever again is because the right-wing won three elections when that was one of Labour's policies.
Does that mean she's going to dump all of the main policies that directly benefit the poor at the expense of the wealthy, in case the average mortgagee spooks and runs? You get the feeling her nightmares always involve a John Key / Bill English / Simon Bridges hybrid chanting "the family home" at her.
I feel Jacinda has sold us out. Completely and utterly. You now have two centre-right options this election, and one of them is very popular. The other is a toxic raving loony. Witchy, lying.
Couldn't leave without putting down my Eagles song 'New York Minute' - and off topic but I am so glad I saw them in concert a few years ago. I miss concerts. That's all.
Brilliant as usual... In the past 2 1/2 years i’ve paid $125,000 rent because i dont have the deposit to purchase, being a Hotel Designer means that’s not going to change anytime soon.... if someone will flick me a hundred grand, i’ll promise to also buy an e-bike..!!! SOMETHING HAS TO CHANGE QUICK

All excellent points, but more to the point, HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Dunedin may have its albatross. Here, in North Taranaki, the first shining cuckoo is due tomorrow, give or take a day or two.
