How sad and yet, as you say, how comforting that she got to go in peace. A beautiful heartfelt tirbute.

Oh, David. Arohanui... So sad. What parent could want more than to have been written about so tenderly, for so long, by their son?

Ah,man. Sorry for your loss David, she was someone special.

Tbh in my experience, it's doesn't really help in the immediacy, how long or how well they aged, the loss is still the same, and runs as deep as the relationship was strong.

Still miss my Mum & Dad, daily, but can nowadays smile and reflect.

From your writing, and what you share, it seems you have scary good emotional honesty, so I trust that helps you, and your family, as you grieve and remember.

I'm sad that you've lost your Mum, David. A little glad that you had some loving last words and she was able to slip away sleepily. Thinking of your Dad right now. Small blessings. The loss of those best friends never diminishes.

David, I'm so sorry. I've so enjoyed hearing about your parents as it's been a lovely reminder of mine who were of the same era. Big aroha to you and all your whanau.

Oof, that was an unexpected gut-punch there, David. On this, the 31st anniversary of my father's passing at age 73 - and I'm only 60.

All the aroha, and the hugs, and the gentlest of pats as you navigate this life-changing event. Take time to come and sit in the park here, which is beautiful at the moment, and which I'm sure your mother loved too. It is full of spirit and colour and shadows and life.

Arohanui to you and your family, David. Sincere condolences. You wrote your parents into almost-reality for those of us who never had the good fortune to meet them in person. That was a real tribute to them both. 🌼
