Welcome to the inaugural Saturday edition of More Than A Feilding. It has two purposes. One is to give subscribers who don’t have time to read every newsletter an omnibus edition to catch up. The second is to give free subscribers a sampler of the past week.

Here’s what happened this week in More Than A Feilding.

Monday’s edition was about challenging tropes and lies and insinuations and preconceptions.

On a recent visit to swivel-eyed radio station Reality Check Radio David Seymour was invited to validate their agenda of wrongheadedness, and his response was a very clear: I don’t think so, matey.

This edition is now free for everyone to read.

Tuesday was about Mr Luxon’s tax receipt idea.

Wednesday was about Chris Bishop and the readiness of the National Party to assert that up is down, black is white and Bishop renting from his mother-in-law makes him as one with hard-pressed tenants.

Thursday’s school journal looked at the fire in Newtown and other tragedies.

Friday’s quiz covered the budget and the fragile state of things.

And last weekend’s column was about the way we’ve been dealing with flooding.

Everything kept on as usual, even though you only had to look outside to see that it was mad to go anywhere, do anything out there.

More Than A Feilding is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.

I'm greedy - I want it all! Daily, Saturday, all the comments; it defuses my fury and distress sometimes to read the sanity and good sense of More Than a Feilding. And wit!

Yes . A free Saturday edition for us to share with friends who have given up on newspaper's like the Herald must improve circulation . I assume non subscribers can't comment but that's good too
